Stuart is a self-taught landscape photographer and printmaker living on the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island.

Influenced by the Pictorialist and Tonalist movements of the late 19th century Stuart’s imagery is quiet and contemplative, a place to find respite from today’s modern and busy world. Spending time with Stuart’s work and you can begin to hear the rhythm of the waves on the sand or the wind rustling through the New Zealand bush. A place to exhale and relax, for both the artist and the viewer.

Using medium and large format cameras and digital internegatives Stuart uses historical and alternative photographic print making processes to print his work with contemporary materials and tools.

Using these processes help Stuart make his prints in a uniquely personal way where he hopes to inspire those who see his work to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover the beauty and sublime in the familiar and lesser known places where we live, work and play.

Stuart's prints are held in private collections in New Zealand, Australia and Asia.
